I believe the actual start
I believe the actual start time is 7:45. (And allow some time for check-in.)
Vicki Mango is the skater working with the organizers.
Hey Slacker Any More Info on the Milford Inline Skate Race?
More info on Milford Inline Skate event
Hi Blake, here's some more info. Note that it's not a race, just an organized skate. I expect to be there and I'm sure some of the MI folks who've been at T2T will also be skating.
Online registration is here: https://www.signmeup.com/site/reg/register.aspx?fid=0J2VJK7
Registration/start is at "Baker's of Milford Restaurant" - 2055 S. Milford Rd, Milford, MI (Across from Kensington Metro Park Milford entrance.)
I was told the skate would start at 7:45am (between the mountain bikers and the runners), although the article you cited said 8:00 am. I believe that 7:45 is more likely to be true. You'll want to allow some extra time to check in/register - there will be quite a few runners milling around.I think we'll basically do the same route as last year, which ended up at about 42 miles or so. As I said, it's not a race, although some like to go fast. I imagine we'll do something like last year where we periodically stopped to regroup. (So, basically a medium-paced social skate.)
Almost all of the skating is on multi-use paths. (For those who know the SE Michigan paths, the long skate is Baker's -> through Kensington Metropark -> Island Lake park -> Wixom -> South Lyon -> Kensington -> Baker's. The short skate loops around Kensington.) The route has some moderate hills.
There will be a couple of water+bananas stops along the way. There's also apparently food and drink afterwards (I didn't have time to stick around last year).
