Hey I just set up a roadskater.net group on the nytimes.com NCAA men's basketball tournament bracket site. If you'd like to play along, join and fill out a bracket via this link...You'll need a NYTimes login which is free and many of you already have I'm sure...

I did a women's bracket too, and you use this group code: see comments below for codes for the men's and women's brackets.

You have until today, Thursday, March 20, 2008, at 11:30 AM ET to enter and save your men's bracket picks.

You have until today, Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 11:30 AM ET to enter and save your women's bracket picks. The women's regional with Connecticut, Virginia, California and Rutgers (potentially) will be in Greensboro.

The NCAA site also has a bracket contest via CSTV.com and voxpop.tv and my bracket there turned out to be a bit different, ha! NCAA.com also has free live video of all games it appears...check it out here...I got the MVP thing a while back but you can watch without signing up if it's not too busy...

Please recommend other sites if you like, and feel free to comment on the games on Roadskater.net on this thread. I'm not really up on things this year, and I didn't do the usual analysis before picking. It just was easy drag and drop stuff doing the bracket, and creating the group was also easy, so I figured, "why not?" No worries if nobody else has time before the contest closes!

Oops. New Roadskater.net Bracket Code

Hey if you did a bracket but couldn't join the group, try this group code for the men's bracket. Should still work: 991bc8378LJHtSjxMADAotDfjZxbRtA Try this group code for the women's bracket: 9916f8af5omCBMK10GaEcuO4DeLOiMw Georgia looks better than I thought! (I thought the SEC tourney might be all the gas they had.) Up by 10 with 13:32 to go. Go Bulldogs until you meet and ACC opponent, ha. Could they be one of the Cinderella cliche teams? It'd be a rare 14 over 3 win. Now it's 46-42 with 12:05. 56-51 Xavier ahead with 5:31. Nice comeback. Great first game.

Not Too Late to Fill Out a Bracket or Watch a Game Free...Sweet!

For those who might fancy a Mulligan on the brackets, the CBS Sportsline site has a Round by Round Bracket Game. Check out this page...

...or go to...

and look for the Round by Round Brackets game. If you've signed up for the March Madness On Demand or any CBS Sporstline stuff, you can use that login for this too.

Use this page to get some info by hovering (click a region tab if the hover doesn't initialize automatically...

Speaking of March Madness On Demand it is amazingood to be able to watch any games you want live even when your local CBS affiliate switches away! And better still, you can WATCH A FULL GAME REPLAY OR HIGHLIGHTS FOR EVERY GAME that is finished (no full replays for future games yet).

Maybe Skatey-Mark can use this after back from the National Take a Tourist Skating Day skate on the ATT!

IF ONLY Vs. would do this free for the Tour de France and other bicycling coverage! I fail to see the difference in watching the broadcast with ads on my laptop Vs. watching it on Vs. on television (particularly via a televisions tuner card). I know they're trying to get me to sign up for cable but it isn't likely to happen now that I've gone without it so well, finding other ways to watch what is important...but it'd be sweet if TDFOD were available free like MMOD!

Also...some great data is on this page...

Especially interesting is this quotation...

Wow. I thought a 12 over 5 happened more than an 11 over 6, but 12s do better in the 2nd round. Looks like a 9 over 8 is not an upset, but 9s that win do far less well in the 2nd round than 8s. Before this year at least, 16s lose in the 1st, 15s by the 2nd, 14s and 13s by the regional semi, and 12s. 10s, 9s and 7s by the regional final. 11s and 8s that survive to the regional finals have and equal chance of losing or advancing, but 11s haven't made it to the title game. OK that's all for now!
