Proposal: New Prize Award Division, Inline Skating, Running and Cycling Races: Momentum Champion (Pound-Miles per Hour KgKm/Hr)

Recent discussions on the APRR email list regarding "Clydesdale Competitions" have revived a favorite idea of mine for some years now...the "Roadskater.net Momentum Award" or some such similar. What I propose is not a Clydesdale Competition where all over 200 or 220 or whatever figure are equal, also eliminating all under the limit as well, but a pound-miles per hour or kilogram-kilometers per hour "Momentum Championship"...

• pounds times miles divided by hours
• kilograms times kilometers divided by hours

If I ever host an event I hope to have this "momentum champion" category for fun. Like I can ever get my act together to host an event! Ha! Avoiding a set limit means there's no disincentive to weight loss for one thing, as long as you can make up for it with speed, and it focuses some attention on how weight and velocity relate, which we often discuss in terms of power to weight ratios and such. I think it'd be fun and impossible to know historically for A2A or US10K or NYC100K how these things have related over the years. does Uwe have data? I think if he did he would have analyzed and summarized it for us in his inimitable way. In my "Roadskater.net momentum division" a 210 pounder finishing a2a in 7 hours would tie a 180-pounder in 6 and a 150-pounder finishing in 5. With enough data, we could actually find coefficients of mass or some such, but alas this data doesn't exist as far as i know, at least with regard to A2A. It sounds pretty reasonable that this is yet another way of comparing and finding new insights into the achievement of completing A2A or Tour to Tanglewood or any event for that matter. I think some interesting findings would pop out from such a comparison. Another idea would be, as eebee has said, to devise a method based on body fat percentage. I can't bear to think on that too much, and will leave that as a separate proposal of fat-miles per hour or miles per fat-hour or some such device. Cross-flab drafting allowed! Now let's go skate and increase our lb-mi/hr and kg-km/hr! Skateylove y'all.
