skating equipment

My skate frames have been in the wrong position all year!!! What an idiot. I finally felt like I had the time yesterday to tweak one of them and go for a spin. I set the right skate frame further inwards - where they had been all last year when I had no boot problems whatsoever - set off skating and got such great leverage off that right leg that I almost pushed myself over in the other direction.

Would anybody know about skate shops in Atlanta or Athens? I have set some time aside for shopping and visiting. I will rent a car on Thursday Oct. 2nd to check out the country side. Anything interesting besides the A2A course that I should put on my “Must See List”?

Hi to all. With A2A fast approaching procrastinators want to know:
What's up with Hyper wheels in general, 100mm in particular, and Hyperformance +G and Mach 2, more specifically? eebee and I are scouting around for at least 12 100mm and 4 84mm and we found one spot that seems to have them, but only one we ever heard of. Now I'm not against low-fame websites, ha, but seriously where have all the Hypers gone?
Anybody have a great source?
What have you been using and are they worth the money?

Here's a book style collection of several polls that I put together for easy flip-through voting. I hope you enjoy the polls and if you have ideas for more, please use the create/feedback form to send me your thoughts! I'm republishing this so it will show up on the main page, rather than have each poll show up. Each time I add a poll I hope to remember to let you know through this message. The newest polls are:

Heyo...I'm in search of something almost impossible: $200ish boots that are fully heat moldable and somewhat similar to my trusty V-Teks. I have been watching eBay to not much avail and am considering new old stock somewhere else. I have questions in this regard. I am currently a slow speed long distance skater.
- Has anyone here skated the 2006 Verducci "Red" or Verducci "Black" boots with 165mm spacing?

If you need a break, no, I mean a brake, perhaps Cado Motus has what you need. The former Mogema company has a brake that's supposed to work with 80mm-to-110mm-wheel frames. Personally, I haven't seen one of these yet, but on www.nettracing.com there are pictures with installation instructions.

Melanie recently asked on InlineNC yahoogroup. I think:
- K2 inline skates (rollerblades) are a great option,
- probably bigger wheels (90 or 100) for smoother roll over rough stuff, and/or
- a longer frame for point to point roadskating, or
- for tricks of course, shorter frame length makes arcs and spins easier.
- Salomon makes great inline skates and has seemed to support them well, but there were some frames a few years back with problems and I think the company has been sold so it may be wait and see time.
- Rollerblade is making some interesting inline skates but I note they still liked heavy kits when last I looked. The Problade boot looks pretty good if you get the kit with the box frame that's Mogema-ish rather than the earlier, thinner model we've seen bashed.
Those are my quick thoughts on that. i'll post this to rsn2 also.

Since I have got my custom boots, I have been skating sockless and enjoying it very much. The fit of custom boots is so great that I found that wearing socks was interfering with it. However, the sockless fashion brings one unpleasant culprit - odor. Unfortunately, with a lot of hours of skating, the smell coming out from the inside of my boots could easily kill a small animal... I needed a solution. Luckily, Eddy Matzger has published this tip of the week on Inline Planet in the beggining of the year: http://www.inlineplanet.com/2007a-tips/01/2/teatime.html

My 2006 A2A story: (a bit long-winded, but fun to remember anyhow.)
***Before reading this story, please note that I skated the A2A on quads, not inlines. This might help explain some of my equipment 'issues'.

So the main issue was the NO SLEEVES sizing...but one gentle reader explained that my riff on raglan v. set-in was confusing. Here's more on the subject of Set-In or Raglan sleeves.

After much research and comtemplation on the subject, I heat-molded my Hyper boots Tuesday night. It was my first heat-molding experience, and I rejected Hyper's suggested method of using a kitchen oven at 200°F. I didn't like the idea of softening all the carbon in the boot when I only wanted to reshape the heel cup area. And I also didn't like the idea that the whole boot could collapse in a molten heap if left in the oven too long at that temperature, which seemed to be a risk of that method.
